Shine Jesus Shine by Graham Kendrick is a modern contemporary hymn.
The first time I heard it it immediately became my favourite hymn, knocking Lord of All Hopefulness into second place.
The tune is catchy, upbeat, and remains in my mind long after this short Hymn is finished.
I feel that the words are appropriate for every type of service, from Family Service to a Funeral.
It tells of someone asking for Jesus’s help on their journey through their spiritual life.
It also allows the congregation to praise God at the top of their voice.
I find this hymn uplifting when I am feeling low and at other times it makes me so happy that I could cry with joy that God is ‘shining on me’.
As my father would have said “That Hymn is a real belter”’
