My choice is “Oh for a thousand tongues to sing”, a stirring Wesleyan hymn which reminds me of my maternal Methodist ancestors.
Not only is it a wonderful tune to hear from massed voices, but it also points towards a world to aim for, where “Ye lame ye leap for joy”, “the humble poor receive”, and “Tis life and health and peace”.
